Compliance & Proof of Innocence

Railgun's Private Proofs of Innocence (PPOI) system checks funds against selected list-provider datasets. These cryptographic checks are separate from the Railgun smart contracts and do not certify that a transaction meets every legal or platform requirement.

What Is Proof of Innocence?

A proof establishes a statement about funds relative to a particular dataset without publishing the wallet's private history. Its meaning depends on the list and the data available to that provider. It is not a general certificate about a person's identity or all past activity.

POI in Anon

Anon tracks POI progress and spendability while the wallet synchronizes. Confirmation of a shield transaction does not by itself mean the funds are immediately spendable. The wallet may need further synchronization, proofs, or provider responses.

If a transaction cannot use particular notes, review their status in the wallet. Pending or unavailable POI data is not, by itself, proof that funds were flagged. A recovery or unshield-only flow has different conditions from a normal private spend.

Service Data and Privacy

Anon accesses POI services through its PPOI Proxy. These requests include blinded commitments derived from wallet data. This differs from downloading public history files: the request is wallet-specific even though the wallet does not disclose its spending key.

Sharing Information for a Review

Sharing a viewing key or decrypted history is a separate disclosure decision. It can reveal private activity to the recipient. Share only what you intend to disclose, and never provide a spending key or recovery phrase for a compliance check.
